Most VW Golf II and Jetta II left the factory without a standard cabin/pollen filter, only with a leaf screen (191 819 098A).

Higher trim levels like the GTI or G60 sometimes had it ex-factory, but for many vehicles, retrofitting was hardly possible for a long time.
